There are two things we should give our children, one is roots and the other is wings.
As a mother of two young children, I often end up in discussions when sometimes the over-concerned or the ultra-strict parents tick off on my carefree parenting style.
Well, I like most parents was putting in conscious efforts most of the times and self-reflection on a regular basis became an important exercise for me. But after a point I realised that I am simply putting a burden of expectations on myself and my children. That was the day I decided that I am going to make parenting little fun by enjoying the mess and learn from them….and that was the day everything changed. Now, I everyday get up thinking of the beautiful memories I will make with my children and all I do is listen and play with them keeping away my notions.
As adults, all of us understand that as Children one is full of ideas and creative thinking has a crucial share of play in the growing age – from there arises the need to encourage creativity in children.
All I had to do was explore how I can develop Roots (to remind them where they are from when faced with challenges) and Wings (to show them what they can become and achieve) in my children while shaping their Curious, Flexible, Original and Independent minds with creative endeavors.
Stay tuned as will be sharing the paths made by walking…talking…playing and simultaneously creating memories…
